2012 Create A Memory
2012’s event, held on August 8, with opening ceremonies commencing at 5:15 p.m. and closing ceremonies at 8:30 p.m., was a huge success! There were a record 500 children from 10 agencies from around the Twin Cities and approximately 200 volunteers participating in this year’s event. Volunteers, children, and friends enjoyed a night filled with baseball activities, pizza, hot dogs, and ice cream at the fabulous home of the Minnesota Twins, Target Field!

Additional Comments and Thank you Letters we received from attendees:
“I attended Create A Memory last night with 60+ students. Wow, what an amazing event! The students were talking about it all day today. You certainly did create wonderful memories for them. Please extend our thanks to everyone involved. You have a superhero team of volunteers. This was our first year attending and we are very grateful to have been included.”
“I wanted to send a thank you for letting me participate in Create A Memory. It was a terrific night for us. The youth agency we participated with were wonderful. One of the teen girls told me, ‘You are my new best friend.'” It was great to see them connecting and talking about softball, high school, the Gophers etc. At the end of the night a group of the girls asked if we could be with them again as captains next year at the event. One said to me, ‘I wish this night wouldn’t end!'” What a great thing you are doing for the community. I am proud to know and work with you, thanks again.”
“I have asked myself why I still volunteer after all these years. Last night we were volunteering at the wiffleball site. I observed a girl who I thought was playing in the sand, but was actually signing. When she came up to bat, she hit the ball and ran the bases. She was so excited running the bases and when she scored she was all smiles. I yelled to her, ‘way to go!’ and she ran over and gave me a big hug. That makes it all worth volunteering. Thank you again for allowing my family to participate.”
“Hello Zamansky Team! First, THANK YOU for inviting our group to participate in Create A Memory night at Target Field! You definetly helped to make some lasting memories…the kids started talking about this in the beginning of summer which helped build excitement for the evening. It was so cute to hear kids who had been there before tell the kids who were going for the first time what to expect. Some remember giong to the radar gun (as one of the older boys is now a legend as he ‘threw a baseball 100 miles per hour’). Others talked about the food, seeing our mural hanging up, being on the teletron, while others talked about the locker rooms…I could go on and on, oh I will add just one more…many remember the, ‘nice man with the white hair (Ron!).’ In baseball terms, Create A Memory 2012 was another homerun! All 85 kids and 9 adults in our ground had an awesome and memorable experience! It is now about two weeks after the event and I still see kids wearing the t-shirts all the time. On that note, I also have seen adults wearing their t-shirts out and about at the grocery store. Truely a shirt that remains cool for people of all ages and brings people together even outside of the event! The kids loved the goodie bag. The book inside has kept many of them occupied for days! Many new memories were made for a lot of people. I also wanted to add, there were so many nice volunteers around to help make the event safe and fun for everyone. ALL of the hard work that goes into this special evening is very much appreciated! Again, we are so happy to be a part of the memories and look forward to creating new memories and being part of yours in the future!”
